SANIB-DASAL SYNERGETIC INTER-FAITH PRAYING COMMUNITY

'SANIB-DASAL'  CHORUSED PRAYER GETS POSITIVE FEEDBACK

Around the time former Pres. Cory Aquino was being laid to rest at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City last August 5, the SanibDasal Synergetic Interfaith Praying Community got 11 items of feedback on the “Proposed Chorused Prayer” that had been sent out some hours earlier.  Also received was a suggestion through landline telephone that we extend this prayer campaign two ways: (1) add something clear to the prayer to help guide our people more; and (2) extend the prayer period so more and more of our people, including those who are staying abroad, can be reached and drawn in to participate in this historic undertaking. Among those who sent in the responses was Caloocan City Bishop Deogracias Iñiguez, who texted, "Mabuhay si Cory! Mabuhay ang SanibDasal! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!" The others included Asian Social Institute Vice President Dr. Villamor Vital, Dr. Carmen Cabato of the Philippine Chapter of the World Council of Curriculum Development; Lia Esquillo, Davao-based campaigner against aerial spraying of pesticides; and Johnny Javier, Knight of Rizal officer for the Province of Laguna; peace activist Zara Jane Juan; veteran journalist Guillermo Santos of the Philippine Center of Futuristics; and  civic society lesder Philip Suzara. The feedback senders were unanimous in the spirit of welcoming the "chorused prayer" project and in thanking the SanibDasal network for it.

The texter who suggested the extensions requested anonymity, but the feedback received from Norman Aldovera (no background information  given) has provided an idea for possible extension to the prayer itself.

In an email sent out to the sanibdasal egroup and about a dozen or so other list groups, SanibDasal internet coordinator Ding Reyes declared that the expansion idea was being seriously considered, with prayer for discernment. It is likely, however, that the extended prayer would be passed on only through the internet (via the sanibdasal website and emails) and no longer via texting. SanibDasal lead founder and testcasting coordinator Mila Garcia had said the original prayer is too long for textcasting and passing on, as it is.

see http://sanibdasal.8m.net/share.htm for the feedback items.

  SANIB-SINING MOVEMENT FOR SYNAESTHETICS:

'SANIB-TULAAN' SESSION SET AUG. 13: 'MANGARAP KA, AKING BAYAN!'

The Sanib-Sining Movement for Synaesthetics has scheduled a "Sanib-Tulaan" session to be held on Thursday, August 13, 111th anniversary of the American takeover of Intramuros, which signaled the official boundary between 333 years of Spanish colonialism and 111 years so far of U.S. control of Philippine society. The sanib-tulaan "writeshop" will be held at the al-purpose hall of the Bantayog ng mga Bayani Foundation at Quezon Ave. near cor. EDSA, Diliman, Quezon City.

Progressive poet and labor leader Amado V. Hernandez had written in prison during the period of U.S. direct colonial rule the lines, "Ganito ring araw noon nang agawan ka ng laya -- Labing-tatlo ng Agosto nang saklutin ang Maynila" within his classic poem, Kung Tuyo na ang Luha Mo, Aking Bayan.  The Sanib-Tulaan, which will accept on-line participation, will seek to create a new poem for this period that would no longer be about weeping but more about vision-setting for the challenge to end colonialism in the coming dozen years before the 500th anniversary of the arrival of the Spanish colonialists in the Philippines. On-line participants will be asked to e-mail the lines they wish to contribute to the event.

ADVOCATES OF COOPERATIVE EDUCATION ON SYNERGISM (ACES):

OCTOBER MEET TO DISCUSS CURRENT CHALLENGES TO COOPERATIVES

About a hundred representatives of the country's cooperatives will be meeting the whole day of this coming October 20 to hear and discuss the current challenges being faced by the Philippine cooperative sector.  According to Prof. Ed Aurelio C. Reyes,  educator in cooperativism and lead founder of the Advocates of Cooperative Education on Synergism (ACES), a special committee has been formed, chaired by his fellow-coop educator Rolly Pagaspas, to prepare for the conference likely to be held at the Manahan Hall of the Philippine Cooperative Center in Quezon City.

The three major topics to be discussed are the challenges brought about by the passage of a new Cooperative Code, authored by Sen. Miguel Zubiri; the current challenges of democracy and nation-building in the present historical context; and the challenges from the SanibLakas-formulated "Essential Definition of Cooperatives." A meeting has been scheduled next week to involve other ACES leaders Herminia Manimtim, Alejandrino Reyes, Norma Geronimo and Tony Cruzada.

SANIB-SINING MOVEMENT FOR SYNAESTHETICS:

'SANIB-PINTA' FOR Q.C. KIDS SUCCESSFUL

"Sanib-Pintahan" was one of the highlight activities as some four thousand students from ten schools in Quezon City gathered at Roces Ave. last July 31 to mark the the "Disability and Nutrition Month." Theme of the finger-painting joined by about 100 of the students, including physically-challenged 'special children,' was "Sining-Pagkakaisa para sa Kalusugan." Marz Zafe, head of the Sanib-Kulay painters' group, and co-founder of Sanib-Sining Movement, and Jolly Ostulano, a new Sanib-Kulay member from Calbayog City (Samar), facilitated the "Sanib-Pintahan" as its participants produced seven panels of colorful paintings.

"Sanib-Pinta" was one of the earliest activities of Sanib-Sining Movement for Synaesthetics and the broader "SanibLakas Family" more than a decade ago.

NATIONAL ECONOMIC PROTECTIONISM ASSOCIATION:

NEPA LAUDS LETTER-WRITER ON INDUSTRIALIZATION

The National Economic Protectionism Association (NEPA) recently lauded  Atty. Manuel F. Almario, spokesman of the Movement for Truth in History (MOTH) who had written a letter published in the Philippine Daily Inquirer to underscore the importance of national industrialization for any real progress in the Philippines.

In his own letter to the editor sent to PDI, NEPA Deputy Spokesman Pedro Salvador said: "Industrialization in the Philippines will only succeed if our current and future policy makers will seriously and religiously adhere to the tenets of 1987 Article XII of Philippine Constitution-National Economy and Patrimony."  Almario's letter laments that "None of the presidential candidates for the 2010 elections has mentioned industrialization as a plank of his or her program of government." He said further, before giving a full explanation: "This is tragic. No country in the world has become prosperous without industrialization without industrialization. Under an agricultural economy, our people will be condemned to perpetual poverty. This is the lesson of history."
Both letters may be viewed in the website of NEPA, which will also be a central tool for the current preparations for the organization's 75th anniversary assembly this coming November.

NEPA's Diamond Year President Ernesto R. Gonzales has recently constituted a Steering Committee, chaired by immediate past President Jun Mendoza to undertake the preparations, especially in terms of deeply-rooting the organization in the activation and interlinking of the local community economies throughout the Philippine archipelago.

SANIB-DASAL SYNERGETIC INTER-FAITH PRAYING COMMUNITY

'SANIB-DASAL' UPON A CHORUSED PRAYER PROPOSED

Wherever in the country or in the world we will be at that, let's all join the chorused prayer of a grateful nation right after the actual physical interment of former President Corazon Aquino thanking God for giving her to us as a living example of Filipino greatness and excellence, and vowing to persevere in the struggle for freedom.  Composed by SanibDasal co-founder Ding Reyes and immediately sent out through various channels in the Internet, the prayer was also uploaded in the "shared prayers" page of http://sanibdasal.8m.net. The prayer says, in the English translation:

"We salute and thank Ms. Corazon C. Aquino, our former President, who was Thy gift to us to be our living example of Filipino greatness and excellence.

"Now, as we have brought her to her final resting place, we express our heartfelt collective commitment to firmly persevere and even carry further forward our desire and full attainment of  freedom for our Motherland, that has for almost five centuries suffered domination by greedy rulers both native and foreign.

"Thy blessings we shall carry as our strength, and we shall be guided well by Thy own Living Truth.

"Let this be willed for us to get it fulfilled."

SANIB-SINING MOVEMENT FOR SYNAESTHETICS:

UNITY CALL RAISED AMID PALACE BUNGLING OF NATIONAL ARTISTS AWARDS

The Sanib-Sining Movement for Synaesthetics issued a short statement asking the artists' community in the country to stsy united in the face of Malacañangs sloppy handling of this year's batch of National Artists to be proclaimed soon by the Palace. The statement was circulated by John 'Lakan' Olivares, Sanib-Sining head, and Sanib-Sining co-founder Ed Aurelio C. Reyes, using the channels of the Internet. They also circulated hard copies during the tribute gathering for recently departed musical artist Susan Fernandez-Magno.

The statement says: "The Sanib-Sining Movement for Synaesthetics seeks to express serious concern that the ranks of practicing artists are being divided over GMA’s acts of obvious abuse of discretion with the recent choice of the latest batch of National Artists, where her decisions removed one, clearly miscategorized another, and insensitively honored a government functionary in charge of an office involved in making the choices. Let not such abuse on the part of Arroyo cause further division among the ranks of people whose role in society is above that of mere partisan politicians like GMA is. Let art be above the reach of the lack of quality of politics in this country. Let us focus our righteous indignation on what are the misdeeds and who the real culprits are."
